Hailed by L’ape Musicale and Connessi all’Opera as “vivacious” and “with an instrument of beautiful quality”, Greek-American mezzo-soprano Xeni Tziouvaras enjoys a career as international as her origins.
This year, she made her Palm Springs Opera Guild debut as Hansel Hansel and Gretel, won 1st prize at the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation competition, and sung Cherubino and Carmen throughout Tuscany with COIF Opera, Teatro Aurora di Scandicci and the Comune di Cortona. At the Maggio Musicale, she has debuted Carmen Carmen, Mercédès Carmen, Giacinta La Finta Semplice, Giovanna Ernani, Amneris Aida, Pisana I Due Foscari and Gertrude Romeo et Juliette.
She has worked with many notable conductors, including Zubin Mehta, James Conlon, Carlo Rizzi, Theodor Guschlbauer, and Henrik Nanási. Other credits include a concert debut with the Orquestra Simfònica Balears in Palma de Majorca, Luciana in the world premiere of Hershey Felder’s opera Il Quarto Uomo, Scenes of Olga, Dorabella and Angelina at Teatro La Fenice, Hermia A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Serenade to Music at Carnegie Hall, and Signora Guidotto I due Timidi, Tisbe La Cenerentola, Dorabella & Despina Così fan tutte, the Dog The Cunning Little Vixen, and Nerone L’incoronazione di Poppea in New York City.
Ms. Tziouvaras is the 1st prize winner of the PASF competition 2025 and winner of 2nd prize at PASF in 2024. She completed her studies at the Manhattan School of Music, and went on to complete the Mascarade Opera Studio as well as the Young Artist Program at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. She will sing two of her signature roles, Carmen and Cherubino, again with COIF opera in the fall, and also debut as a soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with the Halifax Choral Society.
